NORTHLIGHT

Technical Information:

Overview

Northlight is a high-quality pin-registered digital film mastering scanner. Unlike telecine-based machines that have been adapted for scanning, Northlight was engineered specifically for the exceptional demands of digital film mastering, providing image quality surpassing that of traditional pin-registered film scanners used in special effects post-production.

Designed with the philosophy that quality in film digitization goes beyond resolution power alone, Northlight incorporates image stability, speed, low noise and intelligent illumination into an ergonomic high-productivity scanner that integrates easily into post-production workflow. Supporting 35mm, 65mm and 16mm formats, Northlight has been designed for the digital mastering of entire feature films for current release and for back catalogue preservation.

"Modern VideoFilm was one of the first facilities to recognize the creative opportunity and efficiencies of the DI process and to build services to meet the emerging demand. As an early adopter of the Northlight scanner and Truelight facility-wide color management system, Modern VideoFilm has been an invaluable partner for Filmlight and instrumental in opening up new possibilities for filmmakers."
